CREATE

The second workshop, Create, focused on collage as a tool for self-expression and reflection. Participants were invited to explore their personal relationship with Cyprus by creating visual compositions using everyday materials collected from their surroundings. Through the use of receipts, packaging, tickets, labels, photographs, and personal objects, participants transformed ordinary materials into meaningful narratives about their experiences on the island.

The workshop began with an introduction to the project and a round of presentations, where participants shared how long they had been living in Cyprus and spoke about something that had recently inspired them. This opening conversation helped create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere while highlighting the diversity of experiences within the group.

The collage-making process encouraged participants to think about identity, memory, and place. Each person worked on an individual collage piece while remaining in conversation with the rest of the group, exchanging ideas and discussing the materials they had chosen. Some participants used objects collected during the previous walking workshop, while others incorporated personal items that represented important moments or aspects of daily life.

At the end of the session, participants were invited to present their work and explain the choices behind their compositions. Together, the individual collages formed a larger collective piece, demonstrating how many different experiences, perspectives, and stories can coexist within the same geographical space.
