Isabella Brunskill has completed a two-month residency at Phaneromenis 70 and will be presenting her drawing series Geographical Timestamps this Saturday, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The series is a visual inquiry into how natural and urban space carry traces of memory, unity, and resistance. The drawings function as “timestamps” that reveal subtle political and environmental tensions, as well as the deep connections that continue to traverse the island beyond its visible borders. Roots, stones, architectural fragments, and everyday inhabitants become carriers of a shared history, highlighting Cyprus as a living and resilient land despite its divisions.
The presentation is part of the long-term programme Delivering Views – Delivering Texts at Phaneromenis 70, an initiative that gathers images and texts about Cyprus through the perspectives of travellers, artists, and researchers. The aim of the programme is to stimulate the senses and thought through the circulation of images and ideas, opening new ways of reading the city and the island.
Isabella Brunskill, a British–Cypriot artist born and raised in North London, with a background in geography and a self-taught visual arts practice, bridges the parallels of North and South in Nicosia through her work. With detailed and contemplative renderings, she brings the two sides of the city back into dialogue, proposing a unified reading of place through micro-histories and overlooked landscape morphologies.
Saturday’s presentation offers the public an opportunity to meet and converse with the artist, as well as to observe up close the formation of an archival work that documents Nicosia as it breathes today.

Η Isabella Brunskill ολοκλήρωσε δίμηνο πρόγραμμα φιλοξενίας (resident artist) στο Phaneromenis 70 και παρουσιάζει το Σάββατο, από τις 4 έως τις 6 μ.μ., τη σειρά σχεδίων Geographical Timestamps.
Η σειρά αποτελεί μια εικαστική έρευνα γύρω από το πώς ο φυσικός και ο αστικός χώρος κουβαλούν ίχνη μνήμης, ενότητας και αντίστασης. Τα σχέδια λειτουργούν ως «χρονοσημάνσεις» που αποκαλύπτουν λεπτές πολιτικές και περιβαλλοντικές εντάσεις, αλλά και τις βαθιές συνδέσεις που εξακολουθούν να διαπερνούν το νησί πέρα από τα ορατά του σύνορα. Ρίζες, πέτρες, αρχιτεκτονικά θραύσματα και καθημερινοί κάτοικοι γίνονται φορείς μιας κοινής ιστορίας, αναδεικνύοντας την Κύπρο ως μια ζωντανή και ανθεκτική γη, παρά τις διαιρέσεις.
Η παρουσίαση εντάσσεται στο μακροχρόνιο πρόγραμμα Delivering Views – Delivering Texts του Phaneromenis 70, ένα εγχείρημα που συλλέγει εικόνες και κείμενα για την Κύπρο μέσα από τα βλέμματα περιηγητών, καλλιτεχνών και ερευνητών. Στόχος του προγράμματος είναι η διέγερση των αισθήσεων και της σκέψης μέσω της κυκλοφορίας εικόνων και ιδεών, ανοίγοντας νέους τρόπους ανάγνωσης της πόλης και του νησιού.
Η Isabella Brunskill, British–Cypriot καλλιτέχνιδα, γεννημένη και μεγαλωμένη στο βόρειο Λονδίνο, με σπουδές στη γεωγραφία και αυτοδίδακτη εικαστική πορεία, γεφυρώνει εικαστικά τις παραλληλίες Βορρά και Νότου στη Λευκωσία. Με λεπτομερείς και στοχαστικές απεικονίσεις, επαναφέρει σε διάλογο τις δύο πλευρές της πόλης, προτείνοντας μια ενιαία ανάγνωση του τόπου μέσα από μικροϊστορίες και παραγνωρισμένες μορφολογίες του τοπίου.
Η παρουσίαση του Σαββάτου προσφέρει στο κοινό την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσει και να συνομιλήσει με την καλλιτέχνιδα, καθώς και να δει από κοντά τη διαμόρφωση ενός αρχειακού έργου που καταγράφει τη Λευκωσία όπως αναπνέει σήμερα.
