Just a Suggestion.

Tonight, just as sure as you are reading these words, as you notice your eyes moving across the text, the words in your mind’s ear. Just as sure as the feeling in your face, the skin and the muscles around your eyes each time they blink. As sure as the feeling of the paper under your finger tips as you read.

​

Just as sure as these feelings, tonight as you fall asleep, as you drift gently into the warm darkness, you will find the images on the postcards inside coming back to you, an island of memories. You will find yourself looking up towards the depthless blue sky, the warm afternoon sun on your face, drifting between those doors, chalk white paint marking your fingertips, into that room, between the curtains, to the darkened space beyond. The two statues, their faces now clear, waiting for you, the man and the woman, kindly welcoming you with stories, your guides for the night.

Phaneromenis 70

Cultural and Research foundation Phaneromenis 70 was founded by artist Kyriaki Costa. It is an art center housed in the historic center of Nicosia. The main goals of the institution are aligned with the research field of social studies of ‘place’ and tourism.

​

The project

‘Delivering Views-Delivering Texts’ of the Cultural Centre Phaneromenis 70 is based on exchanges of images and texts focused on Nicosia and Cyprus. In recent years we collect photos and texts made by tourists who visited Cyprus, which help us achieve a new approach and interpretation of our hometown through the foreigner’s look. The archive material compiled is periodically delivered to editors, intellectuals or artists, so that they comment by choice on anything that moves them. Our ambition is to stimulate the senses, the emotions and thoughts through the circulation of images and ideas, so as to start a new conversation on things that we –on our move- miss.

Απλά μια εισήγηση,

​

Απόψε, ακριβώς με την ίδια βεβαιότητα/σιγουριά που διαβάζεις αυτές τις λέξεις, καθώς παρατηρείς τα μάτια σου να ακολουθούν το κείμενο, τις λέξεις στο αυτί του μυαλού σου.

​

Ακριβώς τόσο βέβαιος/σίγουρος, όσο το συναίσθημα που καθρεφτίζεται στο πρόσωπό σου, το δέρμα και οι μυς γύρω από τα μάτια σου κάθε φορά που ανοιγοκλείνουν.

​

Τόσο βέβαιος/σίγουρος όσο αυτά τα συναισθήματα, απόψε καθώς θα σε παίνρει ο ύπνος και θα σε παρασύρει απαλά στο ζεστό σκοτάδι, οι εικόνες από τις εσωτερικές σου καρτ-ποστάλς θα έρχονται πίσω σε σένα, ένα νησί αναμνήσεων.

​

Θα βρείς τον εαυτό σου να κοιτάζει προς τον γαλάζιο χωρίς βάθος ουρανό, ο ζεστός απογευματινός ήλιος στο πρόσωπό σου, καθώς παρασύρεσαι μεταξύ εκείνων των θυρών, κιμωλία σε χρώμα λευκό στα ακροδάχτυλά σου, σε εκείνο το δωμάτιο μεταξύ των κουρτίνων, στον σκοτεινό χώρο πέρα από ΄δώ.

​

Τα δύο αγάλματα, τα πρόσωμά τους πλέον σαφή/καθαρά/φανερά περιμένοντας σε, ο άνδρας και η γυναίκα, γλυκό καλωσόρισμα με ιστορίες, οι οδηγοί σου για τη νύχτα.

Phaneromenis 70

Το Πολιτιστικό και Ερευνητικό ίδρυμα Phaneromenis 70 ιδρύθηκε από την καλλιτέχνη Κυριακή Κώστα. Είναι ένα κέντρο τέχνης, που στεγάζεται στο ιστορικό κέντρο της Λευκωσίας. Κύριοι σκοποί του ιδρύματος είναι το ερευνητικό πεδίο των πολιτισμικών και των κοινωνικών σπουδών του ‘τόπου’ και του τουρισμού.

​

Το πρότζεκτ

Η τρέχουσα δράση «Delivering Views-Delivering Texts» του Ιδρύματος Phaneromenis 70 βασίζεται στην ανταλλαγή εικόνων και κειμένων με επίκεντρο τη Λευκωσία και την Κύπρο. Τα τελευταία χρόνια συλλέγουμε φωτογραφίες και κείμενα τουριστών που επισκέφθηκαν την Κύπρο, προσπαθώντας μέσα από την ξένη ματιά να επιτύχουμε μια νέα προσέγγιση και ερμηνεία στοιχείων του τόπου μας. Το υλικό που συγκεντρώνεται παραδίδεται ανά διαστήματα σε επιμελητές/ανθρώπους των γραμμάτων και των τεχνών για να σχολιάσουν κατ’ επιλογήν τους ό,τι τους συν-κινεί. Φιλοδοξία μας είναι μέσω της διακίνησης εικόνων και ιδεών να διεγείρουμε τις αισθήσεις, το συναίσθημα και τη σκέψη, ώστε να ξεκινήσει ένας νέος διάλογος πάνω σε όσα εν κινήσει μάς διαφεύγουν.
