OBSERVE II
19.04.26
The second cycle began with Observe II, a photography workshop that invited participants to engage with the city through attentive observation and image-making. Taking place in the old town of Nicosia, the workshop transformed a simple walk into an opportunity to explore familiar surroundings from a different perspective.
Participants gathered for a brief introduction before setting out together through the city streets. During the walk, they were encouraged to photograph anything that attracted their attention, from architectural details and textures to everyday scenes and unexpected moments. Rather than focusing on technical perfection, the workshop emphasised curiosity, observation, and personal interpretation.

To support the process, participants received a printed guide containing basic photography composition tips and a series of prompts designed to encourage creative exploration. The sheet also provided space for notes, reflections, and ideas that emerged during the walk.
The slow pace of the session allowed participants to spend time observing their surroundings and engaging with the atmosphere of the city. At the end of the workshop, participants selected several photographs that felt particularly meaningful to them and reflected on the reasons behind their choices. These images later became part of the collective exhibition, contributing visual perspectives on life in Nicosia.
As a final reflective moment, participants were asked the question: “What makes you capture a moment?” They were given time to think and respond individually, resulting in a series of personal reflections that complemented their photographic work. The responses were later collected as part of the workshop archive, alongside the selected images.
