Το πρότζεκτ αποσκοπεί στην ενεργοποίηση - μέσω εικαστικών παρεμβάσεων - της βιτρίνας του κτιρίου Regina Cinema στην οδό Ρηγαίνης στη Λευκωσία. Το κτίριο το οποίο λειτουργούσε κάποτε σαν κινηματογράφος, σαν μπαρ και ξενοδοχείο, αποτελεί από τη δεκαετία του ’80 μέρος των εγκαταλελειμμένων κτιρίων της πρωτεύουσας. Η βιτρίνα γίνεται αντιληπτή με το παρόν πρότζεκτ σαν ένας εκθεσιακός χώρος μέσω της οποίας το άλλοτε εν λειτουργία μοντερνιστικό αυτό κτίριο θα «επαναλειτουργήσει».

Πρώτη καλλιτέχνιδα της οποίας το έργο θα φιλοξενηθεί στη βιτρίνα είναι η Στέλλα Γεωργίου, ή astrakistrikes.

Το πρότζεκτ θα διαρκέσει 6 μήνες και επιμελείται η Θεωρητικός τέχνης Μόνικα Ασημένου.

‘Αστικές Λεπτομέρειες’
Το πρότζεκτ Regina Cinema πραγματοποιείται στα πλαίσια των ‘Αστικών Λεπτομερειών’. Οι ‘Αστικές Λεπτομέρειες’,  βασίζονται στην ενεργοποίηση ξεχασμένων χώρων της πόλης και επιδιώκουν μέσα από εικαστικές δράσεις και συνεντεύξεις να αισθητοποιήσουν καταστάσεις και εποχές της πόλης και να ενεργοποιήσουν τη δημόσια μνήμη.

 

Δρ. Μόνικα Ασημένου
Η Μόνικα Ασημένου είναι κάτοχος πτυχίου του τμήματος Εικαστικών Τεχνών του Πανεπιστημίου Paul Valery στο Montpellier της Γαλλίας.  Πραγματοποίησε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στις Εικαστικές Τέχνες στο Πανεπιστήμιο Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne.  Είναι κάτοχος Διδακτορικού διπλώματος στην Ιστορία της Τέχνης με αντικείμενο έρευνας την τέχνη στην Κύπρο μετά το 1974. Κατά τη διάρκεια των διδακτορικών της σπουδών (2010-2013) ήταν υπότροφος του Ιδρύματος Α.Γ Λεβέντη. Έκτοτε εργάστηκε για τρία χρόνια στη Μόνιμη Αντιπροσωπεία της Κύπρου στην ΟΥΝΕΣΚΟ,  συνεργάστηκε με διάφορα μουσεία και πολιτιστικούς συνδέσμους, συμμετείχε σε συνέδρια και επιμελήθηκε διάφορες εκθέσεις. Δίδαξε Ιστορία της Τέχνης ως Ειδική Επιστήμονας στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πανεπιστήμιο, στο Intercollege και τώρα στο ΤΕΠΑΚ. Τα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζονται στην έννοια του χώρου,  της μνήμης και της ιστορίας.

Η Στέλλα, η αλλιώς astraki, είναι καλλιτέχνις αλλά και παράγοντας πολιτιστικής κοινοτικής σύνδεσης με υψηλά κίνητρα  και βλέψεις στο να αναπτύξει τις γνώσεις και το όραμα της σε όλους τους κλάδους της τέχνης. Στη νεαρή ηλικία των σπουδών της, αποφάσισε να σπουδάσει Γραφιστικές και Εφαρμοσμένες τέχνες στο πανεπιστήμιο του

Frederick στην πόλη της τη Λευκωσία. Αργότερα συνέχισε τις σπουδές της στη Σχολή Εικαστικών και Εφαρμοσμένων τεχνών στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης στην Ελλάδα. Το 2000 κέρδισε διετή υποτροφία για σπουδές στο Beijing University & Culture  στην Κίνα. Το 2005, μετακόμισε στην Ισπανία και έζησε στη Μαδρίτη και την Γρανάδα για δύο χρόνια, μαθαίνοντας την ισπανική γλώσσα  και διευρύνοντας τη γνώση της στον πολιτισμό και την ιστορία της χώρας. Έχει λάβει μέρος σε πλήθωρα τοπικών και διεθνών εκθέσεων. Επιπλέον, ίδρυσε το στούντιο admiradOres deL circulO*,  το οποίο από το 2005 έχει συμμετάσχει σε μεγάλο αριθμό καλλιτεχνικών προγραμμάτων.

REGINA CINEMA, Rigainis Street, Historical Center, Nicosia

The project aims to activate - through artistic interventions - the front window of the Regina Cinema, a building in Rigainis Street in Nicosia. The building, which once functioned as a cinema, as a bar and as a hotel, has been one of the abandoned buildings of the capital since the 1980s. The front window is perceived by the present project as an exhibition space through which the once- modernist building will "reopen".

First artist whose work will be on display at the shop windows of Regina Palace is Stella, aka astrakistrikes.

​

The project will last 6 months and will be curated by the art theorist, Monika Asimenou.

“Urban Details”
The said project aims to combine visual arts, memory and research. The 'Urban details' is a project based on the vitalization of forgotten urban spaces as an attempt to revitalize public memory through artistic action and research.

Dr Monika Asimenou
Monika Asimenou studied Visual Arts at the University Paul Valéry of Montpellier and later she obtained an MA in Visual Arts at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. She also obtained a PhD at the University of Paris 10 Ouest-Nanterre on history of art in Cyprus after 1974. She worked at the Permanent Delegation of Cyprus to UNESCO where she participated in many conferences of cultural context and organised related exhibitions and events. She has a record of cooperation with museums and cultural associations, has curated and guided many exhibitions and published a number of articles. She taught History of art at the European University, at Intercollege and now at the Cyprus University of Technology. She is also currently working at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation as the curator of the Contempary Art Collection. Her interests include the notion of space, memory and history.

Stella, aka astraki, is a highly motivated artist and cultural community connector looking to further develop her vision in art related fields. In her twenties, she decided to study Graphic Design & Applied Arts at Frederick University in her hometown Nicosia. She subsequently continued her studies at the School of Visual & Applied Arts of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki/Greece. In the year 2000, she won a two-year scholarship at the Beijing University & Culture in China. In 2005, she relocated to Spain and lived in Madrid and Granada for two years, learning the Spanish language while also expanding her knowledge on the culture and history of the country. She has taken part in numerous group exhibitions in Cyprus, Greece, Serbia, Palestine, Sweden, Finland, Spain and elsewhere. REGINA CINEMA, Rue Rigainis, Centre Historique, Nicosie

Le projet a comme objectif l’activation de la vitrine de l’immeuble Regina Cinema à rue Regains, à Nicosie, à travers une intervention artistique. L’immeuble au passé était utilisé comme un cinéma, un bar et un hôtel et depuis la décennie 80 fait partie des immeubles abandonnés. Sa vitrine est perceptible avec le projet en cours comme un lieu d’exposition à travers lequel cet immeuble va « revivre ».

La première artiste dont l’oeuvre sera accueillie est Stella Georgiou, ou astrakistrikes.

 

Le projet va durer 6 mois et la commissaire d’exposition est l’historienne de l’art Monica Asimenou.

« Détails urbains »

Le projet Regina Cinema fait partie de « Détails urbains », dont la base est l’activation des endroits oubliés de la ville. Le but est de créer du sens sur des situations et des époques de la ville, cela à travers des actes artistiques et, ainsi, réactiver la mémoire publique.

Dr. Monica Asimenou

Monica Asimenou a une licence de Beaux Arts de l’université Paul Valery à Montpellier en France. Elle a obtenu son master en Beaux-Arts à l’université Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne. Elle a également obtenu son doctorat en Histoire de l’art et dont le sujet était l’art à Chypre après 1974. Durant son doctorat (2010-2013) elle était boursière de la fondation A.G. Leventis. Elle a également travaillé à la représentation permanente de Chypre à l’UNESCO, elle a travaillé avec des divers musées et organisations culturelles, elle a participé à des conférences et elle a été la commissaire pour des diverses expositions. Elle enseigna l’Histoire de l’Art en tant que professeure à l’Université européenne, à Intercollege and actuellement à CUT. Ses recherches étudient la notion de l’espace, de la mémoire et de l’histoire.

Stella, aka astray, est une artiste motivée et une connecteur de la communauté culturelle qui recherche de développer sa vision dans le secteur artistique. A ses vingt ans, elle a décidé d’étudier la conception graphique et des arts appliqués à Frederick University de sa ville natale, Nicosie. Elle a continué ses études à l’École des Arts Appliqués et Visuels de l’université de Thessalonique/Gr!ce. En 2000, elle a gagné des bourses à Beijing University &Culture en Chine. En 2005, elle a été en Espagne où elle est restée à Madrid et à Granade pendant deux ans, afin d’apprendre l’espagnol et d’étendre ses connaissances sur la culture et l’histoire du pays. Elle a participé à des nombreuses expositions de group à Chypre, en Grèce, en Serbie, en Palestine, en Suède, en Finland, en Espagne et ailleurs.
